SOLAR Hybrid TOYOTA Prius
By
www.solarelectricalvehicles.com Welcome to Solar Electrical Vehicles. Founded in mid 2005, SEV was created to develop a true solar charging system for Hybrid Electric Vehicles that provides increased electric driving range and improved fuel economy. Founded by Greg Johanson, with over 20 years of experience in the solar electric vehicle industry, SEV is the sister company to the oldest and largest systems integrator of solar power systems in Southern California, Solar Electrical Systems. The Solar Electric Vehicle system was designed and engineered as an easy to install (2 to 3 hours) integrated accessory system with a custom molded low profile solar module, supplemental battery pack and a proven charge controlling system. The SEV system generates energy from sunlight and converts this energy to high voltage which is utilized to charge the supplemental battery and the Hybrid Vehicle (HV) battery pack. This allows the Hybrid Vehicle to operate for extended driving range in the electric mode With the SEV solar system, the Toyota Prius can operate up to 20 miles per day in electric mode thus improving fuel economy by up to 29% (depending on driving habits and conditions).

@GarrettKeetley . Sadly not..But if I had my way I would make Toyota have a Solar roof on ALL their Hybrid and Plug-in-hybrid cars ! ALL cars for that matter !! The less petrol (gas) cars use the better ! I would make sure ALL road transport hybrid, plug-in-hybrid and all electric cars and trucks. The sooner humankind get off it´s dependance on Oil the better ! The Peak Oil Crisis is comming !!! Me, I´m buying a Mitsubishi i MiEV as soon as possible !!

You just don’t want to hire this company to install solar at your house or business.

The solar panels alone will move the car at about 20 mph FOREVER….no gas…including a battery it will be capable of going for hundreds of miles…dumbies

you get a few extra miles a day if you park it in the sun…it needs to be able to be plugged in….great idea…

how about place solar panels at home and car
November 13th, 2010 at 3:36 pm
nice ,but the best place for solar panels is on your home. They can always get full sun at the proper angle and make the most energy. You also get big incentives to install them and have a grid tied home.
A car with solar is cute but never gets good full power. It also takes a lot of room to get the amount you need on a small moving roof. Even solar race cars are tillted up at the morning and end of day to try and get the extra sun at off hours. It’s seldom directly overhead.

nice car it make me remember the “EV1″ that one dont need any petrol engine ant it can go about 160 mile per charge of about 4 hours but GM and petrol companies killed that car to not make them bankruptcy unfortunately

What happens at night when there are no more sunlight? There should be more batteries to store the energy or a backup when batteries are used up like a plug in alternative when your batteries are out of juice.
November 13th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
It is a great idea, but only as a small addition to the energy available, I can’t imagine that that size panel can provide more than 70-70 watts of energy in the full sun. Perhaps enough to provide 1/5 -1/4 of a horse power. Now put a large battery pack and a solar roof on your house… that is a different matter.
It is in our future if we can get rid of our government’s meddling in battery life and coddling the oil interests.

Looks like you got a nanosolar order delivered? (Total black panel modules is give-away). With 5X increased eff. why not eliminate gas-motor altogether? If Prius is a little big for that, maybe switch to Aptera, or Nisson KanDoo Be-Bop? Look’s like Fuel-Less non-plug Transport is really here now! Great! (PS: YTube “Mag Amp Gen” for test device that is solving Electric bottlenecks). Cheers Mate!

Did you know that the full Enviroment cost of a prius (including fuel) over its lifetime is greater than a Land Rover Discovery !
The Enviroment Cost of the Magnesuim in the Battery’s alone would be more than The total cost of a Fiat 500

i guess pretty soon, toyota will take control as number car corporation in america
November 13th, 2010 at 6:42 pm
Its tampered glass
November 13th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
it cost like 4500 for the modification!!
November 13th, 2010 at 7:26 pm
Buy a japanese made Prius, not a regional lockout one, stick those on there, and you’ve got 800mpg easy.
November 13th, 2010 at 8:16 pm
since cars were made ? seriously !
Anyway i like your product, cause you can’t ask the battery to give you juice that you didn’t give it first!!!!
It’s ridiculous to think that you can decide to use more of the battery of the Prius !
Solar panel Prius is great idea !!!
