The Washington Post did not follow up their story in 1983, but only reported NASA’s original announcement of a “large mystery object,” although they did correctly (as it transpired) mention a distant galaxy as one of the possibilities. Further observations by IRAS showed several objects which turned out to be high intensity IR galaxies many millions of light years away and they were detailed in several scientific journals, such as Aaronson & Olszewski 1984, Nature 309:414. @Forusim GOOD POINT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE BUT DO YOU HONESTLY THINK IF WE WERE ON A COLLISION COURSE WITH SOMETHING THE SIZE OF JUPITER THAT THEY WOULD JUST COME AND ADVERTISE TO THE KNOWN PUBLIC LOL!! The truth is that NASA knows a large high veloscity, near earth orbit (NEO) comet is calculated to hit the moon in the fall of 2011. The destructive force of impact will shatter off large clouds of debri from the moon which will by force of gravity fall to earth. We will see masive fire storms raining down as the debri burn with friction from our atmosphere on our earth for over 6 weeks as debri from the moon makes its way to earth. Get the truth out there!
