A lot can happen leading up to that point and there is always the chance of fault. BE PREPARED ASAP for whatever may come – prepare your family BUT – DO NOT STOP LIVING! If nothing happens… awesome! But it never hurts to err on the side of caution friend

For Indianapolis, Indiana, sunset on Jan 3, 2011 is 5:32 PM, direction 241° West-southwest. Civil twilight ends 6:02 PM, Nautical twilight ends 6:36 PM, Astronomical twilight ends 7:09 PM (total dark). That is off the timeanddate , com website. Record cold throughout the world is happening and likely to affect growing seasons. Even established scientists are saying there is unusual northern lights this winter. Not sure if the light at sunset is really off knowing the full timetables.

You might want to look up timeanddate , com for you location. It gives sunset time plus Civil twilight, Nautical twilight and Astronomical twilight times and also the exact position of the sun in degrees at sunset. For the Astronomical twilight it will look fully dark. This additional brightness may be due to something else. Weather? We know the weather is breaking records in many areas of the world. Something is not right with this. The more north the longer twilight lasts.

I made it a point to pay closer attention to that today, 3rd, “official” sunset for us was supposed to be at 5:33pm but sun did not dip until close to 6pm.
