Knife Review: Pohl Force Bravo One Outdoor: Sturdy EDC
By
I have previously discussed the mighty Pohl Force Alpha One (meanwhile further refined as Alpha Two and Three). A great knife, but perhaps too much of a good thing for EDC. Hence knife designer Dietmar Pohl now offers a smaller variant, that’s perfect for EDC: the Bravo One, which comes in 2 versions. In this review we have a closer look at the Bravo One, we compare its features with those of its big brother, and there is even an interview with Mr. Pohl !

@applevalleyjoe In Europe the price is rather ok (USA-sourced knives are usually more expensive). Also, these Taiwanese outsourcing partners know a thing or two about quality, their products are a notch above typical mainland China products. If you ever the handled Taiwan-made Spydercos Sage 1 & 2, Chokwe, Bushcraft, and Gayle Bradley, you’d know that these are as well made as anything from anyone. In fact they feel almost as precise as my beloved Klötzlis! Hence you shouldn’t worry about that!

I am concerned that this knife is made in Taiwan..what a shame! Too, for a Chinese-made knife it’s pretty expensive here in the US. For that kind of money I can get a US made Emerson. Still, a nice knive. Hopefully, Mr. Pohl can find the sweet spot (3.5-3.6″ blade) for the next one. I like the ergonomically shaped blade which lends itself to a great hand-hold. The Alpha 2 Desert is a killer!!! Thanks, Mr. Pohl.

@v3n0m007308 It’s from the sample library within iMovie on the Mac. Perhaps other Youtube creators have used the same sample?

nice vid.. but I keep wondering, where does the intro music come from? It sound familiar, but don’t know where it comes from

@roaringwaterbay It’s far too small for that particular usage ! Google for “zombietools” to find a more appropriate solution to any zombie apocalypse…

how would you rate you this knife for zombie invasion resistance? thank you.

MrDagon007…superb video. I am certainly wanting to get both of these knives. They are somewhat difficult to find in the United States at this time, though! Merci!

That grin you get represents a slippery slope, come to the dark and tactical side, we in addition to great knives, we have cookies and milk.
If you had a need to reliably one hand this knife a small strip of non skid abrasive material might help.

Another wonderful review of a knife seldom seen in USA. looks to be extremely stout and capable. Very cool how you inserted the clip of Herr Pohl in the middle of the vid. It is always interesting to hear the designers talk about their creations. Seems you had a great time at that knife show.

@TheEvrael Indeed, there is no provisioned way to add a thumb disk on this version.
But really, you can still open it easily enough with one hand using your thumb. I do not “flick” knives open, so I don’t mind.
September 5th, 2010 at 11:41 am
so the normal version doesnt have a thumb disk and you cant put one on it like the on the big one?
