Are you serious?

I am going to start a small business and make a fortune selling “I survived the End of the World -12/21/12″ t-shirts!

Um none of those things are going to happen. The end of the world prediction on the mayan calendar is metaphorical. It means an end to our current way of life, ie. a change is coming that is NOT the apocalypse.

hahahahahahahahahahah!!!! really? are you for real? if you are really that sure that 2012 is going to happen were you that sure that 1979 was going to happen or 2000? well the world has not ended yet and it probably wont end in 3 years. even if it does, why bother worrying about it now? worry about the present, there is enough in the present to worry about without taking the future into account. if you are really that concerned, then i would try moving to the moon…but really i wouldn’t worry about it. if it happens it happens and nothing will save us

Uh, this isn’t going to happen.
What’s up with all the 2012 postings?
March 2nd, 2010 at 11:17 am
yeah of course
you gotta
i worked out a few weeks ago
thats enough prep for the next 3 years for me

the world is not gonna end! and why would you save any of that? your gonna die anyways and those would be useles(if the world is really gonna end) if that were true, i would live my life to the fullest.

Will people please start reporting those who post off-topic questions like this?

Go ahead. Make your plans for 2013.
EB(above):This issue needs to be addressed by rational people. We need to counter all of the stupid bullsh*t some people are spreading. Its not really off topic.

OOOH, COOL! WWIII??? Another item for my collection of bogus predictions for 2012. It’s up to 24 now and I believe mine is the best in my neighborhood.
Why do you believe that garbage? All these predictions of doom for 2012 are of two types:
1) Predictable, but utter bunk.
2) Not predictable at all, and so, also utter bunk.
There is no Planet X.
There is no Nibiru.
Of course, you can believe a couple of totally uncredentialed media opportunists and doomsday psychos — OR the entire worldwide scientific community. Up to you.
March 2nd, 2010 at 1:46 pm
to tell you the truth if you really think that the people that predicted these things had psycic powers that could tell the future ur wrong. even when were all gone from this generation and about 1000 years later no one is going to be able to tell time… unless they get a way to find out how to bend light and time even more than what it is but i doubt that will ever happen

i hadn’t realized the london olympics would have such an effect!

worry about real things, please!
watch your diet, get some exercise, wear a seatbelt when you are in a car.
call your mom and tell her you love her.
forget 2012… the doomsday nutters are NOT worth your time.
Hugging your kids is.

We would have detected its gravity by now if it is over 400 feet in diameter, even it it was on the other side of the sun. No such planet exists.
March 2nd, 2010 at 2:45 pm
Well lisa the thing i’m trying to do is get a group together, either group together to survive by living underground in bunkers, or being one of the few lucky ones to survive on the surface. Either way, you should never be alone. Those who cannot afford shelters (such as myself) will be forced to raid and loot other survivors in order to survive if supplies cannot be found elsewhere. Such is human nature, either watch yourself and your family suffer or take from others knowing they wont survive yet you’ll live a little longer. Such will probably be my fate, as well as many others. email me at keithwakkure at yahoo dot com (have to spell it out because yahoo security)

“Planet X” is a generic term for any theoretical but as-yet-undiscovered planet. The “Planet X” (also known as “Nibiru”) that is supposed to cause problems in 2012 doesn’t exist. It is a fictitious member of the solar system, supposedly five times the size of earth. We know it’s fictitious for several reasons:
1. An object five times the size of earth would be visible in backyard telescopes while it was far beyond the orbit of Pluto, decades before it could approach the earth. No such object has been seen despite decades of observation by millions of professional and amateur astronomers.
2. Such an object would also have a large gravitational effect on nearby objects, including the rest of the outer planets, and they would not follow their predicted orbits. In fact, the planet Neptune was discovered based on errors in the predicted orbits of known planets. Since the planets are where we calculate they’re supposed to be, there is no large unseen object pulling them off course.
3. The Nibiru alarmists change their prediction every time an old prediction proves false. Nibiru was originally predicted to appear in 2003; now it’s supposed to be in 2012, so who knows what they’ll be predicting in 2013?
“Planet X” isn’t the only 2012 doomsday hoax getting publicity, but none of the others is real, either. First of all, the Maya didn’t predict the end of the world. Their calendar simply reaches the end of a cycle, and they had specific names for much longer periods of time, up to 62 million years. If they thought the world was going to end after a cycle of less than 6000 years, why would they bother? Their calendar was highly accurate, as was their knowledge of the apparent motions of the sun and moon (which is how eclipses are predicted–no fancy telescopes needed), but they did *not* possess any “lost” astronomical knowledge.
As for Nostradamus, he didn’t give any specific dates for anything (he was too smart to make that mistake in his “predictions”, which the 2012 doomsayers aren’t). The Bible doesn’t make any date-specific predictions, either, and in fact it specifically states that the end of the world *cannot* be foretold.
Now, let’s look at some of the “predictions” themselves…
The earth’s poles are not going to shift. The geographic poles can’t shift (the earth can’t flip over or reverse its rotation). The magnetic poles can and do shift, but this takes thousands of years, and the earth’s magnetic field never disappears completely.
The sun will not line up with the center of the Milky Way (it can’t; the center of the galaxy is in the wrong part of the sky). There is no such thing as a “cosmic winter solstice.”
The planets are not going to align (it’s physically impossible; and even if they could, their combined gravity wouldn’t be enough to disrupt anything on earth).
The sun will not flare up and poison the earth (it goes through regular 11-year cycles of solar flare activity, and 2012 is just another peak).
Destructive earthquakes happen all the time, and they can’t be predicted for a specific date (or even a specific year).
Nuclear wars have been predicted since nuclear weapons were invented. We haven’t blown ourselves up yet, and there’s nothing special about 2012 that would make things any different.
Do you remember the Y2K doomsday predictions? The 2012 doomsday predictions are just as accurate. The people behind the 2012 hysteria are in it for the money. They sell lots of books and videos to people who don’t know any better. A lot of them were saying the same thing about 2003, and when the earth survived they picked 2012 because of the supposed significance of the Mayan calendar. When 2012 comes and goes and we’re all still here, they’ll just pick another date and sell more books and videos.

Winter solstice- December 21, 2012 – is just the revealing of the ‘antichrist’ or the ‘man of perdition’ at the mid-point of what Christians call the 7 year Tribulation (just subtract 1260 days to get the start and add 1260 days to get the end). Satanists and many pagan cultures from every corner of the world all throughout history have celebrated this like the Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching (confirmed by Terence McKenna), Mayans (Pacal Votan; Chilam Balam of Tizimin, Mani, Chumayel; Jaguar Prophet), Egyptians, Celts, etc. This evil event is called “the abomination that causes desolation” that will be set up in the Jewish Temple’s Holy of Holies when the antichrist is imbued with the spirit of satan himself. When will Jesus come? Only God Himself knows exactly, but very soon in “the twinkling of an eye” and like “a thief in the night”. If you believe or not, that is up to you; either way it still comes.
Things to look for to PROVE it to yourself soon:

Christians look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Saviour & Redeemer in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as “Children of Light”. If you try to equate 2012 with Y2K or some other date that cried wolf, then you will be making the worst mistake of your lifetime. Research all these things FOR YOURSELF!

ever notice how those guys with the wicked font lettering always hover around this question? almost like they are fixated on advertising their gullibility.
but no, i am not preparing for any of the 2012 nonsense. ww3 huh? it will take a lot of quickly rising world tension for that to happen. if the cold war didn’t end the world, why would nations today have gotten less rational? oh, wait, nevermind…… it’s all britney spears’ fault, isn;t it?

Like famous actors, I’ve spend $20 million on a subterranean apocalypse shelter under my house. I’m prepared for 20 years of hiding. Using geothermal energy systems I’ve got a hydroponics lab fully powered, which is my own little mini-ecosystem. With the comprehensive seed bank I have collected, I will be able to repopulate the barren Earth with plants and animals of my choosing. I just need a group of 20 female volunteers to help me repopulate the earth with my children…
Oh, and you have to show up soon – we’re running out of time…

All the so-called “Mayan prophecies of 2012” are nothing more than wildly speculative extrapolations, which are based on the yet uncertain interpretations by scholars of Mayan hieroglyphs. However, the truth is that apart from the astrological convergence, there is little indication that the Mayans prophesied anything specific regarding the events of this distant future. The Mayans were not prophets; they were not even able to predict their own cultural extinction. They were great mathematicians and accomplished sky watchers, but they were also a brutally violent tribal people with a primitive understanding of natural phenomena, subscribing to archaic beliefs and the barbaric practices of blood-letting and human sacrifice.
There is absolutely nothing in the Bible that would present December 21, 2012, as the end of the world. While that date is no less valid for an end-times event than any other future date, the Bible nowhere presents the astronomical phenomena the Mayans pointed to as a sign of the end times. It would seem very inconsistent of God to allow the Mayans to discover such an amazing truth while keeping the many Old Testament prophets ignorant of the timing of the events. In summary, there is absolutely no biblical evidence that the 2012 Mayan prophecy / prediction of doomsday is in any sense valid or probable.
Accepting the Mayan 2012 prophecy logically requires acceptance of the following theories: our sun is a god; the sun is powered by the blood of human sacrifice; the creation moment occurred at 3114 B.C. (despite all evidence that it happened much earlier); and the visual alignment of stars has some significance for everyday human life. Like every other false religion, the Mayan religion sought to elevate to the point of worship that which was created in place of the Creator Himself. The Bible tells us about such false worshipers: “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator” (Romans 1:25), and “since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – His eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). To accept the Mayan 2012 prophecy also denies the clear biblical teaching about the end of the world, because Jesus told us “…of that day and hour no one knows, no, not the angels in Heaven, nor the Son, but the Father” (Mark 13:32).
