I use it like this. – phone line to tiny charger controller = 12 volt pulses to my 12 volt deep cycle to power 144 led lights. this lights up my living room every night . night after night and is ALWAYS almost too bright. FREE LIGHT ! also back up for power outage

@getjagged I doubt you are getting 200 watts. I would guess you are getting 10 watts max. Phone lines are very low amperage, less than 100 milliamps so the most you could get is about 4 watts . Also most inverters like this run on 14 – 28 volts. Any more or less they do nothing. Place a kill a watt meter to it and see what you are doing. A 12v batter cannot run most grid tie inverters. That is why I have 2 in series = 24v. That is between the 14-28.

I use my phone line of 40 volts with a tiny charge controller with a 12 volt battery to run my 200 watt grid tie inverter. it works fine .

the unit that I have only has 1 red and 1 green light so it doesnt flash like yours does.

@guessohw Your voltage is too low. Panels produce 12v-21v with no load. The Inverter requires 14v-40v DC. Wnen you hook only a panel, you have about 12-14 loaded volts so the light stays green. Solid green low voltage. Red fault not hooked to grid.

To test, take 2 (12v batteries in series) and test. Batteries have very high amps and the 24v will make them flash fast.

I have one of these units and run it daily outside right off of my homemade panel that produces +/- 100watts. I have tried everything under the sun to test if this is really doing anything ( i have the kill-a-watt device) but get nothing. the light on the grid tie invter flases then goes green and stays so till the sun is down. What can I do to tell if this is really working, I need numbers! Thanks and I love your work

Your inverter is only rated 200 watts per hour. So it would have to feed back into the grid 200 watts for 5 hours to equal 1Kw. Your 40 minute test only put into the grid 133.3 watts you would need to continue for an additional 4 hours 20 minutes to have made the meter move backwards 1 Kw.

They are legal, some have UL, but NEC requires 1 per dedicated circuit. There is a UL version, it is on the net, search 200 watt grid tie.

aren’t these illegal in the USA? They don’t mention anything about UL/CE licensing?

Dan, where did you buy that 24 volt Grid Tie Inverter…. I have 4 solar panels I’d like to just tie in without having to spend a fortune…..thanks

I got my estimate yesterday. I can fit a 5.5 KW array.
Payback is in 14 years not to mention a 16,000 property value increase by having them. Getting the site survey done Monday. Loan is pre-approved.
We’re ready!

I have developed a software which calculates required number of panel as per the inverter specification, just send me the monthly electric bill information, and desired panel wattage, as in my software I have specification of more than 2000 different manufacturer panel and also specification of 400 different iverters from 1kw to 1MW, most of them CEC aprovedit is always important to take care of design specification

you can use the Solar system as an equipment for your business investment and use rapid depreciation of solar system in your tax payment. and get back part of value of solar system by not paying tax.

most probably you will need only 4 kw solar system, which with todays price tag of 7 dollar per watt, you will need 28000 dollar to install the system, but depending on time and utility location if you recieve back 3 dollar per watt of solar system, your total investment after rebate deduction will become 16 thousand dollar. of course if you take this amound loan , you can get back your interst payment as your tax deduction, and if you are doing some sort of business at your home…
