If you live in a hurricane area of the country, this is a great product, for Weather, and charging of other electronics (Ipod, Cell Phone) when there is no electricity.

I really enjoy this battery/solar/hand crank radio. My work truck do not have a cigarette outlet and this is perfect for me. I use it during break and lunch. The radio’s clock is perfect too because my work truck don’t have one. I’ve bought rechargeable AAA batteries for back up. Great product and I use it everyday at work.

I just received this radio yesterday from ETON corporation as a replacement for a poorly designed FR1000. Anyway, if you saw my review for the FR1000, the main comment is that the tuner was worthless on that particular model. No reception even in a well populated, area with strong radio stations. Well, that’s not the case with this model. I am pleased to say the reception is great on this model. Eton changed the antenna location to the rear, not on the top as in earlier models. I don’t know if that was cause of the change, or they were using crappy tuners like the older models. As far as the other functions, the flashlight works great, the light display is sharp, and I have not tried the other functions yet. I got what I needed.

I ordered three of the solar radios from Amazon.com for Christmas and the kids played with them for a long while. One of the radios wasn’t working properly so you replaced it immediately. I think they will use them for a long time to come.

I bought this off at Staples clearance table for $7.50. If I had paid the actual retail price then I would have been really pissed.
