Description:

A strong earthquake measuring 7.2 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea late Sunday, but there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties, Indonesian seismologists said. The quake happened at 1304 GMT with its epicentre located about 503 kilometres north-east of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, according to Indonesia's Meteorology and Geophysics Agency.
