Miss Macdonald, was lying ill in bed and soon found herself under the influence of “the spirit.” She said that she saw in a vision that Jesus would come not at once, but in two visits, the first would be to save his chosen few. This attracted the attention of another minister, one John Darby, who then developed this idea into what is now known as “The Rapture.” In 1908, the rapture doctrine was further popularized by preacher William Eugene Blackstone, whose book, Jesus Is Coming, sold more than a million copies. The first known appearance of the theological use of the word “rapture” in print occurs in the Scofield Reference Bible of 1909. Hmmm, so it seems Mr. Blackstones book of 1909 got the doctrine started in full force. I wondered who Mr. Blackstone was? Sounds like an English name alright. So I go make a quick check of his Wiki, and in the first paragraph it says he was a FERVENT SUPPORTER OF ZIONISM!! 1. MOST IMPORTANT! Wait at least 2 hours (preferrably 4-5) before answering each comment.
2. Get him to say his sources. Read them carefully – then dismantle them.
3. Prove your sources by citing a reference they have to science. If they don’t – they’re indeed weak sources.
4. NEVER insult him or attack him directly.
5. When he flips – ignore him. If necessary – ban emotionlessly for being vulgar (not for being stupid).
That’s pretty much it.

@SGresponse – I take your point and responding with “he started it” is nothing short of playground mentality.
So, as a matter of interest, how would you have responded any differently?
Answering his questions didn’t work. Ignoring him or blocking him gave him the opportunity of claiming that I couldn’t answer his questions. Ridiculing his ignorance makes me look no better than the troll.
Right from the outset, it was clear that reason wasn’t going to work and history testifies to that fact.

1 ) Ignore any answers you are given.
2) Don’t read anything to which you are directed but lie about the author instead.
3) Claim that your questions haven’t been answered and ask them again regardless.
4) Claim victory when you are ignored or blocked.

@SGresponse – Is the YT comments section a suitable place for a lengthy debate or discussion? No. Comments get out of step and it can easily show a distorted version of the conversation.
This is why he was told that I would continue the conversation on Mick West’s website – A site far more suited to this kind of lengthy discussion. I was ignored time and time again so I had no option but to ignore him or block him.

@SGresponse – I even gave him a chance to win again by unblocking him and allowing him the chance to actually make a point. I even went so far as to give him 20 minutes warning that if he didn’t actually make a point during those 20 minutes, he’d win again. So lucky him. He won twice.
Did I have to lie to achieve my aims? No. Did I misrepresent the facts? No. Did I actually answer the few questions he raised? Yes. If that’s losing, then I’m happy to lose.

@RoadRunnerLaser – Precisely. But to call him out on his bullshit you could do many things without resorting to pure ad hominem – even if it was justified. You went in and accepted his rules of slander over reason and that’s when a troll wins: he makes his bullshit and insults look pretty much the same as your rational, but insultive style.
All in all it was an aggravating read: knowing that you were in the right but seeing, that you were sinking deep into the trolliness of the discussion.

@SGresponse – If “winning” is being blocked after posting the same thing time after time despite it being answered already, or being blocked for blatently misrepresenting the reality of the situation and being called on it and then calling your opponent a liar, or being blocked for displaying deliberate ignorance and refusing to actually read the answers which were provided. @SGresponse – Once he’d deliberately misrepresented Mick West’s statement about his knowledge of science and meteorology and I’d exposed his lie, it was plainly obvious that rational discussion wasn’t an option. It never was. The other idiot, Fartblast, was treated quite differently – We did have what might be considered a prolonged, rational discussion in PM…. That is, I was rational, he pretended to be interested. Eventually, it became clear that he was beyond education.

Had this particular troll actually posed any questions that weren’t already answered on the site to which he’d been referred time and time again, I’d have answered them. However, as he’d demonstrated that being reasonable and directing him to reliable information wasn’t effective, I had a number of choices. I could ignore him (giving him the opportunity to claim that he’d posed questions I couldn’t answer), I could block him (likewise), or enjoy insulting him.
