Description:
Horseshoe Bay has been closed to swimmers due to a high number of Portuguese Man O War and jelly fish, it was announced this afternoon. A spokesman for the Department of Parks said that by noon today, 15 people had been treated for stings and the lifeguards are trying to reduce further injury to beach patrons. A spokesman said: “Lifeguards are at present clearing the beach and waters of as many of the Man O War and Jelly Fish as they can and will make a further assessment of opening sections of the beach in due course. The smaller enclosed cove at the back of the restaurant is still open to swimming. “The cooperation of the general public is greatly appreciated and beach patrons are asked to obey the instructions of the lifeguards on duty.”
