Austin Energy Conservation Audit Disclosure Ordinance

By

The Energy Conservation Audit Disclosure Ordinance (ECAD) violates homeowners’ liberties and was approved by the Austin City Council in November 2008; it was enacted June 1st, 2009. Austin is the first city in the US to require an unlawful energy audit during the selling process. This unfunded mandate is borne by the home-seller. Condominium and manufactured home owners (without a foundation) are exempt If your home is less than 10 years old, your home is exempt. www.stoptheaustinecad.blogspot.com http impactnews.com energy-action.com online.wsj.com online.wsj.com www.statesman.com www.austinenergy.com The Austin City Council approved the Energy Conservation Audit and Disclosure (ECAD) ordinance to improve the energy efficiency of Austin homes and buildings that receive electricity from Austin Energy. Improving energy efficiency can help reduce electricity bills for renters and owners of homes, multifamily properties, and commercial buildings. Robin Curle, an agent with JB Goodwin Realtors, said the ordinance “needs to be overturned or revised.” “The ordinance might have been a good idea in a very hot real estate market, but to pass it this year when the market is recovering from a slowdown … will only slow the contract process and give buyers one more thing other than repairs to negotiate,” she said. “Now they can also negotiate (energy) upgrades, which puts us at risk for a hit on the market.” Michael Lucy, whose four-bedroom home in Northwest Austin is on the market

That spreadsheet is part of the CRU Freedom of Information Act emails and research files. Google “FOIA.zip” and you should get some hits. As a courtesy to you I’ve made it the first hyperlink in the “more info” section under the sidebar.

Peace.

Oh I don’t miss your points. You never make any. BTW, Howtheworldworks is gutting one of the greenman3610 videos. It’s hilarious. watch?v=Bs6ofn46xUY

Hiding the “Hide the Decline,” featuring Greenman3610

I enjoy watching content that shreds myths about AGW.

3

Also interesting that I can’t seem to click on that “link” to the spreadsheet in that article. Please let me know where I can see it for myself.

4

I’m happy to clear up any of your misinformation. You said, specifically “Our tax dollars subsidize the CRU.” This is untrue. If they get a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy then fine – say it like that. Don’t be purposefully misleading. O wait, I forgot who you were for a minute.

Ultimately, so what? I’ve still to see any evidence from any of this nonsense that in any even hints at disproving AGW. The worst I’ve heard of is denial of some FOIA requests.

5

How surprising that you missed the point. So what that there tons of Google hits – as I displayed there are many for flat earth society too. All it means is there is a massive propaganda machine pushing this denialist agenda – exactly what I’ve been saying for years.

You can Google “smoking doesn’t cause cancer” and get thousands of hits on that too. So what?

6

One is a spreadsheet (pdj_grant_since1990.xls) logging the various grants CRU chief P.D. Jones has received since 1990. It lists 55 such endowments from agencies ranging from the U.S. Department of Energy to NATO, worth a total of £13,718,547, or approximately $22.6 million.”
I didn’t know the U.S. Department of Energy wasn’t funded by U.S. taxpayers.

Thanks for clearing that up Pandonodrim.

7

That’s odd, I Googled “climategate” just now and got 30,400,000 hits. The story that you said was irrelevant is growing exponentially! Nov 22, 2009 “CRU Files Betray Climate Alarmists’ Funding Hypocrisy”, By Marc Sheppard
“Amid the thousands of files apparently lifted from Britains Climate Research Unit (CRU) last week sit two documents on the subject of the units funding.

8

Don’t you live in Austin? If you do then none of your tax dollars subsidize the CRU – it is a component of the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England you nitwit.

I don’t know what “amateur, arm-chair scientists” are or what this supposed “CRU data” is that can’t stand up to them… nothing in those emails brought any “data” into question.

As for “googling climategate” – I can google “flat earth” and get 31,400,000 hits. What does the number of google hits prove about anything? Moron.

9

I laughed equally as hard when I type “ClimateGate” into Google: “Results 1 – 10 of about 28,500,000 for climategate. (0.10 seconds)”.

With the exception of Judge Napalitano’s show, I don’t watch Fox, ( I don’t have cable TV).
Our tax dollars subsidize the CRU, so asking to see their doctored data is a worthwhile FOIA. Those carbon-clowns should be more transparent. The CRU “data” can’t stand up to scrutiny from amateur, arm-chair scientists.

10

ClimateGate, hahaha.
This “climategate” sham from Faux News is pathetic. Just another of many stupid attempts by those nut jobs to try and discredit science.

There is nothing in those emails that even addresses the validity of AGW. The worst those emails shows is that they denied some FOIA requests – requests that were a sham anyway.

I never “hand-wring” and the only person in this conversation who belongs to a cult is you – the cult of Faux.

11

Sorry Schmuck, I’ve been busy. Hey, where can I review a copy of your annual electricity use? I may arbitrarily determine that you need an energy audit. You hand-wringing, carbon-cultists have ben kinda quiet since ClimateGate broke.

12

Suck it, douche. Your pathetic whining is delicious and amusing.

13

I have never lived in Co. I only go there to ride/ski, I moved to central Texas over a Year ago, and as a licensed energy auditor I had to learn the rates for energy and the climate before I moved. People need to move away from the grid system anyway, let the rates explode, people wont ignore their energy waste so much. You wouldnt have this problem at all if you didnt rely on somebody to bring you energy, make it yourself, or expect to pay more and more, anywhere.

14

Sorry it took so long to get back to you mental midget. My wife and I submitted our window replacement rebate to Austin Energy and never heard back from them. Twice. Wasn’t worth the hassle. If the dorks at the Austin Energy monopoly can’t get that little task right, I don’t want them in our home. BTW, when can I expect your check to cover my energy audit? If you think it’s such a cheap price and a great idea, then you pay for it.

15

I like your response D1. However, Texas is much hotter than Colorado in the summertime. I posted my annual electricity bill, where can I find yours? Oh, BTW, Google “Austin Energy proposes rate increase”. Gotta love it.

16

BTW, that is on 3200sqft.

17

I built my own house, its costs me about 35$/month avg. to heat and cool my house throughout the year. Total energy bills rarely peak over 100$. Just try me. I have been in this business for over 20 years, BTW vinyl is the second worst window made, you got ripped. Almost all windows built today are “high efficiency” compared to the old ones.

18

We could call it the Colorado Carbon Monoxide Ordinance (carbon monoxide is worse than carbon dioxide). Or maybe make the EPA force you to get an emissions sticker for your motorbike? $25 an inspection sounds good.

19

Austin doesn’t “bring me power”, the sell it to me and they have a monopoly. I can’t get electric power from any other provider. I’m all for upgraded building codes; what I object to is being FORCED to get an audit. And I object to the criminalization of the failure to get an audit. My wife and I spent $9000 installing high efficiency vinyl windows. I probably use less electricity than you do per month, so my “green” bona fides are better than yours.

20

of course, I ride it twice a year or so….like it would fcking matter.

21

they already have stupid, only closed course operation. Thats why four strokes came to the market, guess what retard, there are bio-premixes available that make them green…….god you are ignorant

22

Can’t wait until 2 stroke engines are deemed too filthy by the carbon gestapo. Then you can strap a video camera to your forehead and run around in circles making dirtbike sounds moron.

23

They need to park the next coal plant in your ignarant ass’s back yard! Think youll enjoy the smell of that “unproven” pollution BS.

24

I am going to laugh when you bitch cry and moan about a couple hundred bucks, and then a realtor bends you over for thousands, just to open the door for potential buyers. I imagine your math skills are very very low, but try to figure up what Austin has saved you in electric rates over the years, then tell them asking you to spend 200$ is too much.

25

I dont care about carbon, it is monthly energy bills, and the fact that even though Austin brings you the lowest electric rate in TX, you question them. I am sorry you cant afford an energy audit(some lower than 149$), I tell you what, I will give you one for free since you hate it so much, if this shuts you up, or will you admit it is a retarded argument? Are you against new contruction codes too, because nobody should be able to tell you how to build a save efficient house?
